CHRIST CHURCH CONCERTS

Daylesford’s Christ Church Anglican have launched a series of five very special concerts on Saturday afternoons from Winter to Spring.

Music from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods with string ensemble, viol consort, recorders and harpsichord. A Rossini comic opera and a celebration of the power of music with the Daylesford Community Brass Band.

The Church is a popular concert venue with its beautiful setting, stained glass windows and highly regarded acoustic qualities. Central Victoria and Daylesford in particular has a rich tradition and culture of supporting music performance of these traditions.

The concert series comprises;

Klemantyne Ensemble
A dynamic string ensemble from the Ballarat region, playing a diverse program from baroque to tango including works by
Handel, Cimarosa, Sibelius, Holst, Kats-Chernin,Villa-Lobos & Piazzolla.

The Gamut of Viols

Utilising its varied sizes, shapes and forms, the viol consort creates a tapestry of interwoven lines that was part of the sound of the 16th and 17th centuries in England and Europe. Our wide ranging program includes works by Frescobaldi, Purcell, Hume, Isaac, and Mico alongside exciting new music being written for this unique medium.

The Italian Affections
In 17th century Italy, instrumental music stepped out from the shadows. It could stand on its own, able to communicate the spectrum of human emotion without the need of a Voice. Explore the very beginnings of the Sonata to the greats of Corelli and Vivaldi.

La Cenerentola “Cinderella” 2 Act comic opera by Rossini Lyster Opera Company

Rossini’s brilliant and witty take on the classic tale is brought to life by some of Victoria’s finest professional singers, and performed in the style of the touring companies of the Gold Rush era.

Daylesford Community Brass Band
“Beyond” a celebration of the power of music. Come on a journey with us through space, time and the most intimate of destinations: ourselves. “Beyond” draws inspiration from film and television as well as the great literary works that have touched so many of us in our formative years.

Christ Church Concerts are proudly supported by Community Bank Daylesford District, Biggin Scott and The Daylesford Museum Reserve Committee.

All concerts commence at 2.30pm
