A Mount Macedon resident will face a six-day contested committal hearing in September for the November crash in Daylesford last year that led to the death of five people.

The man is charged with five counts of culpable driving causing death, two counts of negligently causing serious injury, and seven counts of reckless conduct endangering life.

During the hearing and it is expected the hearing will reveal new details about the high-profile case.

The date for the case was set at the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court last month where it was revealed the defence will question 13 prosecution witnesses.

At the conclusion of the hearing the magistrate will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Police allege Mr Swale drove after ignoring warnings his blood glucose levels were low.

At a previous court hearing in December, lawyers for Mr Swale indicated he would be pleading not guilty, arguing the crash was the result of a medical episode.
