April 18th, 2026Massive Dandenong Hospital Upgrade On The Way
The $305 million redevelopment of Dandenong Hospital will deliver nine new operating theatres, a new Intensive Care Unit with 16 beds and an upgraded day surgery admissions space.
The existing Dandenong Hospital is currently one of the busiest in the state.
Once complete, it will expand bed capacity – delivering better and faster surgical care closer to home.
The modern facilities will also create more frontline jobs and support the hospital’s existing, dedicated workforce.
It will also create hundreds of local jobs during construction.
Early work on the bigger and better hospital will start later this year.
Designs are currently being finalised and will incorporate expert advice from the hospital’s clinicians.
Dandenong Hospital will remain operational throughout the redevelopment for continuity of patient care.
The Victorian Health Building Authority will work closely with Monash Health to minimise disruption.
