August 19th, 2026Wonthaggi Arts Centre Gets A Boost
Minister Michaela Settle joined Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale recently to visit the State Coal Mine Rescue Station Arts Centre in Wonthaggi to celebrate its completion.
The arts centre has installed new flooring thanks to more than $48,000 from the state government.
Works have since installed a new floating wooden floor for the building, making it safer for all ages and abilities.
Home to a gallery, art classes, music lessons, creative-based wellbeing projects and a ballet barre class, the arts centre plays an important role in keeping residents happy, healthy and fulfilled.
The Ballet Barre for Seniors Program has been a particular success, supporting health, fitness and social connectivity for locals, while helping participants to remain mobile and independent.
This latest project builds on a previous government investment of $50,000 to help the centre improve accessibility and privacy at the site, and to expand the number of programs being offered for community members.
