October 30th, 2026Backing local projects in Macedon
There’s more support available to make towns across Hepburn, Macedon Ranges, Moorabool and Mount Alexander Shire Councils better places to live and visit, with applications now open for the new $6.5 million Our Town Fund.
Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas is encouraging eligible organisations to apply for grants to deliver the projects that matter most to their communities.
Councils and alpine resorts can apply for grants of up to $200,000 for larger community infrastructure projects, while local organisations and groups can access up to $50,000 for smaller initiatives that strengthen regional towns.
The fund will support projects including new community spaces, tourism attractions and town revitalisation improvements that make our regions more vibrant, connected and prosperous.
These projects will also help attract more people to our diverse regional towns, supporting local shops, cafes, accommodation providers and tourism operators.
The Our Town Fund builds on the success of the state government’s Tiny Towns Fund, which is supporting more than 500 community projects in hundreds of towns with fewer than 5000 people. The new fund will extend support for community-driven projects to dozens more regional towns.
It’s part of more than $50 billion in state government support for regional Victoria in just over a decade.
Applications will be open until Tuesday, February 2, 2027.
“The Victorian government is backing regional communities with $6.5 million to deliver the local projects that matter most to them,” Minister for Rural and Regional Development Michaela Settle said.
“Our local towns are home to passionate communities who know what makes them special. This fund will help turn local ideas into reality, creating more vibrant and welcoming places for residents and visitors alike,” Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas said.
“Whether it’s revitalising public spaces, improving community facilities or boosting local tourism, these grants will support projects that bring people together and strengthen our regional communities.”
