July 12th, 2026National Diabetes Week July 12-18
Every day, 2 million Australians live with diabetes, managing something most people never fully see.
This National Diabetes Week, Central Highlands Rural Health is joining Diabetes Australia to encourage people to know the signs and symptoms of diabetes and seek help early.
Early diagnosis can prevent serious health complications and, in many cases, save lives.
Diabetes affects how the body regulates blood glucose (sugar). While Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are different conditions, both can have serious consequences if left undiagnosed or untreated.
Warning signs include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, slow healing cuts or wounds, and recurring infections.
Some people with Type 2 diabetes experience few or no symptoms at all, making regular health checks even more important.
Central Highlands Rural Health’s Diabetes Education Service supports people living with all types of diabetes, along with their families and carers, across Clunes, Creswick, Daylesford, Kyneton and Trentham.
The service provides personalised education, advice and ongoing support, working alongside GPs and other healthcare providers to help people confidently manage their condition close to home.
This National Diabetes Week, know the signs, have the conversation and don’t delay seeking help.
