Social media went a little viral recently with people wondering if Daylesford’s Victoria Park was an off-leash area for dogs.

After queries from The Local, the Hepburn Shire Council has confirmed that the park is an on-leash dog park – and has been for many years.

Development and Community director Ron Torres said there were two designated off-leash dog areas in Hepburn Shire, one at Trentham and one at Clunes.

The fenced off-leash dog park in Clunes is situated on the town’s Scenic Drive while Trentham’s off-lead park is in Market Street next to the pool and now includes picnic table facilities.

“Council works with dog owners through raising awareness and education on responsible dog ownership,” he said.
