November 20th, 2021Annual electrical line tree pruning program
Macedon Ranges Shire Council is commencing the annual electric line tree pruning and maintenance program in Kyneton and Gisborne.
Council is responsible for these works in the townships of Kyneton and Gisborne, with Powercor and Jemena power companies responsible for these works throughout the rest of the shire.
This program ensures that all street trees in the shire are not at risk of coming into contact with powerlines.
The program inspects street trees and power lines and undertakes works to ensure public safety and prevent electricity supply interruptions caused by overhanging vegetation near powerlines. The program is also an important part of the Council’s fire prevention works.
All electric line vegetation maintenance work will comply with the Electricity Safety Act (Electric Line Clearance) Regulations 2020. The regulations stipulate minimum safe clearances between trees and powerlines.
Council anticipates that the works will be complete by the end of January.
