October 15th, 2026100,000 Potholes Gone As Works Ramp Up Across The Grampians
The state government is prioritising work to fix our roads – and that work has begun.
More than 100,000 potholes have already been repaired across Victoria since July 1.
That means crews are on track to fix more than 500,000 by the end of June 2027.
That’s double what the Liberal-One Nation Coalition claim they’d fix in a year.
We’re also doubling the length road receiving significant repairs – to stop potholes forming in the first place.
Crews are repairing 6.8 million square metres of road at more than 1,000 projects, across the state.
It’s thanks to the biggest road maintenance investment in Victoria’s history: $1.4 billion, delivered by the state government.
Crews are targeting key roads across the Grampians, including:
•Glenelg Highway,
•Western Highway,
•Fyansford-Gheringhap Road,
•Sunraysia Highway, and
•Nhill-Harrow Road.
Crews are repairing roads, mowing tens of thousands of kilometres of grass, removing rubbish and cleaning graffiti.
They’re inspecting thousands of bridges and maintaining hundreds of traffic lights and electronic road signs.
Victorians will see more of these crews on local roads as the weather warms up.
Victorians know they can’t trust the Liberals on roads. They cut funding for roads the last time they were in power and under a Liberal-One Nation Coalition, they’ll cut again.
“Our road repair blitz is doubling the number of potholes filled and doubling the length of road repaired,” Minister for Roads and Road Safety Paul Hamer said.
“More than 100,000 potholes have already been removed, and we’re on track to fix more than 500,000 by mid-next year,” Mr Hamer said.
“There is a lot of work needed on our local roads, and I’m glad to see these upgrades underway,” Member for Ripon Martha Haylett said.
“We’re backing our roads with record funding, so drivers can get where they’re going safely,” Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said.
“More than 100,000 potholes are already fixed, and we’re doubling the length of road getting repairs,” Member for Geelong Chris Couzens said.
“People in our community deserve safe roads – and we’re getting on with that,” Member for Western Victoria Jacinta Ermacora said.
“These works are thanks to our record $1.4 billion investment in road maintenance,” Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney said.
