March 1st, 2024Consultants engaged to assess state of Hepburn shire roads

The Hepburn Shire Council has engaged Talis Consultants to carry out a condition assessment of the Shire’s 620 kms of sealed roads, 835 kms of unsealed road and 95 kms of kerb and channel.

The council says it conducts such assessments every four to five years and the information gathered during the survey will be used by the council to identify opportunities for improvements.

The information gathered will also be used to model road use, determine trends, establish the valuation of roads and help to inform plans for road and asset renewal.

Locals and visiting motorists may observe camera-equipped, transporter-style inspection vehicles travelling on local roads, the council has foreshadowed.

It also says that data collection occurs at normal driving speeds so there will be no disruption to road users.
