They were both done on a visit to India in November-December last year with a theme to photograph ordinary working Indians.

Mike is a former international advertising photographer who bought the old Lying-In Hospital (for new mums) in Trentham, built in the late 1800s which he is renovating when not photographing.

In 2019 he did two trips to India for photography and he hopes to be exhibiting in Mumbai in 2021.

Mike has lived in Trentham for over 15 years and is passionate about showing a side to the region that is beyond the usual tourism shots.

The Percival Photographic Portrait Prize debuted in 2014. It was started to coincide with the highly popular Percival Portrait Painting Prize and to ensure a city-wide celebration of portraiture.

The Townsville-based exhibition, which has been growing with every edition, offers a major $10,000 acquisitive prize.

The winner will be announced on May 22.
