In a move likely to please many motorists, free parking at Ballarat GovHub will be made available to the community from next year.

Minister for Regional Development Gayle Tierney said that 120 car spaces in the city’s GovHub will be open for everyone to use from 2025, so locals have even more free parking options that are close by to where they want to go.

The car parks, which are part of a 2018 state government commitment provide Ballarat’s CBD with 1000 free spaces, will be open to the public from 2025.

These car parks are in addition to 147 spaces already constructed at White Flat Oval, Havelock Street and Market Street, and another 400 spaces which are being built at the Ballarat Base Hospital.

The government claims it will have delivered a total of 1400 parks to Ballarat’s CBD by 2026, but this includes commuter parking as part of the Ballarat Station Redevelopment.
