April 6th, 2023Grants now open for all-abilities amenities
The state government says it’s building more amenities for people with disability, with councils,
tourism attractions and local not for profits, all encouraged to apply for grants to build changing places facilities in Macedon.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas late last month launched the latest round of grants, valued at up to $180,000 each, to help Victoria’s network of changing places facilities to continue to grow.
Each changing place has a height-adjustable, adult-sized changing bench, a tracking hoist system and
enough space for two people, making community spaces, including popular tourist destinations and
events, more accessible for people with disability.
pThe new grant round follows improvements to the national changing Places website to make it more
accessible, secure and functional for all users.
Funded by thegovernment, the redeveloped website will make it easier to find:
· The nearest Changing Places facility in Australia
· Information for organisations wanting to construct a Changing Places facility. Visit the re-developed
site at changingplaces.org.au
The state government’s 2022-2023 State Budget allocated $5.4 million to construct 30 changing places facilities.
