January 4th, 2024Grovedale aggravated burglary and assault: man charged

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged aggravated burglary where a woman was located with serious injuries in Grovedale on Monday morning this week.
It is alleged a man entered a property on Torquay Road and assaulted a woman.
The 35-year-old woman managed to escape and was located on the nature strip about 3.15am.
She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
It is alleged the man also stole the woman’s car and fled the scene.
The vehicle allegedly crashed into garage doors on Dunwinnie Court in Hamlyn Heights a short time later.
The driver, a 20-year-old man of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene.
He’s been charged with:
– aggravated burglary
– assault causing injury
– theft of motor vehicle
– conduct endangering persons
– handle stolen goods
– theft
He had been listed to appear at Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday this week.
