Work has commenced on improving the experience and provision of facilities for hockey across the region at Ballarat’s Prince of Wales Park.

The $1.3 million-City of Ballarat funded project will see the replacement of the synthetic ‘hockey turf,’ upgraded ball protection fencing, new player shelters and improved infrastructure for players.

A feasibility study, jointly funded by the City of Ballarat and Sport and Recreation Victoria, which was completed in 2022 highlighted the increasing demand for enhanced hockey infrastructure in Ballarat.

This project is the first stage in developing improved facilities to cater for the future growth of hockey in Ballarat and the surrounding region.

Current works are expected to be completed by end of May.
