Hundreds of new homes at the former Cadbury building site have been fast-tracked.

The 402 new homes at 636 St Kilda Road will deliver a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes in one of Melbourne’s best-connected locations

Residents will have easy access to five different tram routes, Albert Park Lake, The Alfred Hospital, and jobs and services along St Kilda Road and Chapel Street.

The project was fast-tracked through state government’s Development Facilitation Program, which streamlines the planning process for projects that deliver homes for Victorians.

The pathway has brought average approval time for projects down to four months – 10 months faster than the average council housing approval.

Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny said the fast-tracking was about making sure more Victorians have the opportunity to live in these great locations – close to the public transport, jobs and services they rely on.”
