Daylesford RSL held a moving Remembrance Day service today, with two minutes’ silence. One, at 11am, for those who lost their lives in World War I and one, just a little later, for those who lost their lives in last Sunday’s terrible accident outside The Royal Hotel.

Ian Tinetti told those gathered to pay their respects that people expected to be able to enjoy a day out with their family and friends and then return home.

Keith Pyers read the Ode of Remembrance and asked those present to repeat the words “We will remember them” and “Lest We Forget”.

Wreaths were solemnly placed on the cenotaph by many people including students of local schools and representatives of community organisations.

The short service ended with an invitation for all to go to the RSL where, Mr Tinetti said: “We can have a chat and look after our mates.”
