The Buninyong Players are preparing to present a variety of lively medieval to baroque music from early opera, royal courts and the troubadour tradition at the Newstead Railway Arts Hub this month.

Set for Sunday July 21, the intimate afternoon matinee concert will also feature recorder music of the past 50 years, including pieces reflecting early and classical styles, including some original works, a fanfare, morning music and gigs and reels.

The Buninyong Players are a recorder quintet playing music from medieval to contemporary, using descant to bass recorders and occasional crumhorn and percussion.

Formed during Covid when only four people were allowed in a household, all are members of Ballarat’s Yarrowee Players, a large recorder ensemble.

Wines, beer and drinks will be available at bar prices, from 2pm and during interval. The concert will commence at 2.30pm sharp.

More information, including ticket sales detail, is available on the venue’s website.
