December 24th, 2023New protection guide for Macedon Ranges heritage

A document aimed at guiding future heritage protection throughout the Macedon Ranges Shire features among several significant items endorsed by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council at its final scheduled meeting for the year.

Following earlier community consultation, items given the green light by the council at its December meeting included the adoption of four different significant plans, reports or strategies.

Among them, the Macedon Ranges Shire Thematic Environmental History Report, will now be used to guide heritage protection and to inform the council’s draft Heritage Strategy 2024.

The report identifies the unique history that has played a role in the development of the shire over the last two centuries, covering key themes including how the environment was shaped, people migration and settlement and the development of industry and farming.
