December 19th, 2024Police investigate death of Mount Clear man

Ballarat Family Violence Investigation Unit are investigating the death of a Mount Clear man last Friday December 13.

Police were called to reports of an assault at an address on Highfield Avenue in Mount Clear on November 27.

An 82-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

The man of no fixed address, known to the victim, was charged with assault and remanded in custody.

The Mount Clear man, who remained in hospital, has since died.

The Homicide Squad are assisting the investigation.

The exact cause of the man’s death is yet to be determined and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
