A 37-year-old man was allegedly caught at more than six times the limit following a hit-run in Mitcham last week.

A 37-year-old man was allegedly caught at more than six times the limit following a hit-run in Mitcham last week.

Last Wednesday evening Nunawading Highway Patrol officers were called to reports a Toyota Hilux had crashed into a parked car on Mitcham Road before allegedly fleeing the scene.

A member of the public witnessed the incident and followed the badly damaged vehicle to his Mitcham home and contacted police.

The man was breath-tested, returning an alleged reading of .317.

He was expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic offences.

Police also immediately suspended his licence.
