October 23rd, 2024Spring Racing Fever: Melbourne Cup tour reaches Trentham
There was no shortage of Spring Racing Fever in the air as the legendary Lexus Melbourne Cup paid a visit to Trentham last Wednesday as part of its much wider international and Aussie tour that began way back in May.
Visiting Trentham last Wednesday, and then Lancefield on Thursday, The Cup was finally in the home straight on its way to Flemington and the running of the iconic race that stops the nation on Tuesday November 5.
The Cup’s Trentham tour inclusion came about after owner of Hotel Trentham, former Boomer and NBA star Chris Anstey applied to host the legendary $750,000 18-carat-gold trophy.
During its Trentham visit The Cup was accompanied by Victorian Racing Club (VRC) staff and by champion jockey Jamie Kah. Kah was carefully avoiding any bodily contact with The Cup, a superstition that’s apparently common to many jockeys who have their sights set on winning it on the big day itself.
Kah has a ride confirmed in The Cup aboard the Anthony Freedman trained Point King and was making no secret of the fact that she hopes to be holding the glistening iconic Cup after the race is run.
