A 47-year-old man has appeared before the Ballarat Magistrate’s Court after police allegedly found guns made using a 3D printer at a rural property in Gordon.

Police say they also found a large hydroponic cannabis operation at the property.

Five of the 3D printed guns, machined gun parts and schematics are alleged to have been located when police had executed two warrants at the property on October 26, 2023 and July 3 this year.

The owner of the property, An Dinh Tran, 47, unsuccessfully made a bail application when he appeared before the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court last week.

At the hearing, the court heard from an investigating officer who said Tran would pose a risk of reoffending if he were granted bail.

The magistrate denied Tran bail and he is now listed to reappear in court on September 6.
