With the next deadline fast approaching, the Davy Writers Prize is now in its third year, with coordinator and judges hoping for a growing number of aspiring and established writers to submit up to two of their best and most polished works.

Winners and the shortlist will be published in The Best of the Davy Writers Prize 2027, with prize money and book vouchers going to the winning entries.

Competition coordinator Sandy Fairthorne is hoping to overtake last year’s total of 74 submissions, with categorised entries open to all ages and in any genre.

“With any writing competition, the more entries there are, the higher the standard overall – so we’re really excited about this year’s potential.”

Inaugural winner of the Open Section, Kammy Cordner-Hunt is one of the judging panel, even providing feedback on all works submitted.

“We welcome short fiction, memoir, poetry – anything – as long as it’s not AI,” Kammy said.
